Untethered - Becca Jane Rudd
‘Untethered’ is a debut collection of poetry and photography by Becca Jane Rudd that explores both the freedom and fear that can come with feeling disconnected in the modern world. The exploration of troubled relationships, mental health and societal frustrations seek to examine both the vulnerabilities and confusion of human experience in an increasingly “connected” but isolating world.
Even though we see the rawness of struggle captured in poems like ‘Shots Fired’, ‘The Intrusive What If’ and ‘The One’ (amongst others), they are contrasted with the feelings of hope and acceptance that are explored in poems like: ‘A Friendship Learnt’, ‘The Dress Rehearsal’ and ‘Authored by Stars’.
‘Untethered’ strives to capture a range of emotions: the chaos and the calm; the uncomfortable and the understood; and finally, both the struggle and the healing that comes with continued hope.
